I want to know the mother's perspective too you know. While it is completely possible that she's just a horrible person and mother who always victimizes themselves and all, it is also possible that she didn't realize the effect of her words on her son. It seems that his mother ended up raising the MC alone and got a divorce from the father (who's a scumbag, and worse than the mother. I won't accept otherwise unless we get to know that the father was actually not cheating AND was sending money for MC's treatment and post operation care and basically child support).

I wonder if the worry for MC's health + her husband's cheating (resulting in arguments and fights at home) caused her to stress and overlook MC's mental health? And if she struggled to raise MC afterwards?

Of course I'm not saying she's not a bad mom in that case, she would still be a neglecting mom or something, but that's forgivable imo. That being said, it's completely possible that she's just a narcissistic victimizing mother who doesn't care for her son (though tbh based on how she reacted when MC was sick I don't think that would be the case).
