Why do they look older and mature for their age

probably just the artstyle, but for mc and ml specifically, early on in the earlier chaps i think it was hinted at that this isnt ml's first life??? or maybe im trippin. he said "i wasnt fully developed at this time" so i was thinking maybe hes older than 19 rn idk. then for mc yeah he is actually older
