When I first started this I was kinda confused cuz the couple (dojin and taehee) didn't look anything like the couple on the cover. I mean it was cute but people were talking abt a super great redemption arc but like taehee literally did nothing wrong so I was like do we need a redemption arc for this guy???? And then season 2 happened and holy shit it was so sad but also so good.
Spoilerrrrrrrr Ya know with these whole ml treats mc like shit but then finds out the error of their ways and redeems themselves I've mostly said that in the end it still would be better if they didn't end up together, cuz the trauma would so bad like it would be so hard to forget everything that happened and just skip off into the sunset like la di daa yeah u physically and psychologically abused me but u showed ur puppy dog eyes and now we're good (I'm over exaggerating it of course there are a lot of mls that actually go through hell)
But it doesn't really matter if neither party steps back to like fucking think for themselves. And like I said they just forget everything (still haven't forgotten jinx with the "we both hurt each other or something like that cuz wtf") Like the mc never really gets space to process everything and why it happened cuz one the ml always comes into the picture and two cuz they're written to be dumb and clumsy and so forgiving. Which is why taehwan and yeonwu actually gave me a story that I liked... Sure the redemption the grovelling the yearning it was all great but the aftermath too where they take like w years apart... And still are able to come and be together with the same feelings they before... (Bruh typing this makes me think abt and I'm trying not cry) And actively working through they traumas with each other and in their personal lives. Chef's kiss. Plus we can have a pathetic priceless mc and a shitty ml as long we get a good reason for why they're like that and how they change.
The only bl couple of this genre that actually made me believe that the couple at the end would still be happy and sort things out. (I'm sure there are more that actually as good as this one but I haven't read many bls of this genre maybe the closest for me is beyond the memories??)
