I also noticed while Garam was talking to Compton, explaining how the orchestra was ecstatic, he seems to see Garam as Heejae.

Based on the last panel, comparing the scenes before where he was still a student under Heejae. Maybe deep down he just wants to heal his student self, and the torment he had to undergo to be a 'gem'. Maybe he still strives for Heejae's approval, or maybe hating him is easier than caring about what his teacher thinks.
I think the difference between him and Kruger is that, Kruger chose to stay away from Heejae for his peace of mind. Heejae was a thorny stepping stone that Kruger don't want to step on again, (cuz why would he step back down). Whilst Compton tries to understand his teacher by embodying the hatred he feels, by trying to immitate that passion for music. Trapping himself in a never ending cycle of torment. But then again, just my thoughts hehe,,
I miss Kruger btw, can't wait to see my golden retriever himbo bimbo back on screen.
