Well...it's kind of going how I believed it would. Riftan rightly realized he could use Croyso 's arrogance and short temper to his advantage and just baited him. Openly, flagrantly, but Croyso just couldn't help himself. We're having a moment quite similar to the now classic film A Few Good Men. Watch it, if you haven't.
As for Maxi...Idk what this is supposed to accomplish? She has to know that nothing will sway him. He's going to throw everything she gives him right back in her face. Croyso has only ever cared about Croyso, himself. He doesn't despise her. He flat-out hates her, and because he hates that he can't control her, and if he can't control her, she's useless to him. And useless is dead, or it might as well be. I hope she is baiting him in her own way, or else maybe she's just confirming that this particular door is closed forever. I'm glad her guards are with her.
