The thing is they didnt break up on spot after the accident. MC tried hard to keep their relationship going on but ML just couldn't belive that he was in a gay relationship. MC was tired and guilty(for accident) finally choose to end the relationship and ML accepted it

But then he returned to a house full of photos/traces of their relationship and started yearning for whatever affection he lost, leading to his agreement to participate in the show?
