My only gripe I have with this manga (that I can remember) is that when sex was brought up the first time, the uke asked something like, who’s bottoming?, the seme said ME, no discussion, no asking what the uke wanted, no, maybe we can both try it and see what we like, just, it’s going to be ME, deal with it, end of discussion, a demand really. And then later uke said maybe I can try topping later, and the top said yeah sure, with a (lie) attached to that speech bubble, it seemed to be played off for comedy, but, that’s just shitty in my opinion, and it happens quite a lot in bl mangas where one mc is just forced or pushed into being the bottom without their needs or wants taken into account, even if they bring up wanting to also try topping on multiple occasions, and it’s usually not seen a a big deal, but, I think it is a big deal, it’s just something that always bothers me when i see it happen.
And I’m not saying that it isn’t fine for someone not to want to bottom, but, if both parties don’t want to, why does one always have to sacrifice what they want and what they are comfortable with to please their partner, when there’re plenty of ways to have a healthy sex life without penetration. I just think it’s unfair that one side has to compromise, and stay in that compromise for their entire relationship.

    100% agree.
IMO most BL authors just follow the usual tropes and arent that interested in having a broader representation of IRL gay sex. BL/Yaoi is viewed like a mdia genre own its own, with tropes and formulas that the readers expect to see for it to be part of the genre. Thats why I believe authors dont go further then what we see here, the vast majority of BL have strict tops and bottoms with penetration and that its just whats expected.
But I'll say, I looove this one. Even with the top pushing his role, he was veeeery kind, patient and worried about his partners pleasure. (Which should be normal but you dont see tops like this very often)

I like reading about reversible couples because it has a better chance of portraying more healthy discussions about topping and bottoming.
But even then, a good chunk of reversible BLs ive read are between two guys who both don't want to bottom. I have neeeeever seen a BL where they decide there wont be any penetration. That would be so good to see, but i think the chances are slim.
