Garam really cares about everyone he has a connection to. His first move when he found out was to call Compton, probably to see how he was holding up. Clearly, Heejae is only interested in what happened to that soloist because he could use it as a way to hinder Compton’s success, since he didn’t like the way Compton yelled at Garam (even though Heejae is the reason Compton yelled at Garam). Heejae only cares about Garam being yelled at because it was someone other than Heejae doing the yelling/mistreatment. Even though we as readers can see the hypocrisy, Heejae surely can’t. “When I use harsh methods I’m cutting gems” but if someone yells at the person he cares about, now it’s abuse. I’m glad Garam is calling him out on it. Garam already said he made peace with what happened between himself and Compton, and that should have been enough reason for Heejae not to stir up trouble like this. I’m not excusing Compton’s actions either, his mistreatment of his orchestra members isn’t right. But, it certainly wasn’t Heejae’s place to say anything about it. The professor made Compton that way.
