This story is still fire and worth a read btw, and there are arguably queer themes, it’s just not a BL, as defined by the author. There are a lot of manga that focus on gay men or homosexuality that aren’t BL so don’t let that stop you. But if you were reading in hopes of seeing those two smash at some point you gotta reevaluate your expectations.
This isn’t meant as hate to the author or story, but as a warning to people who may be expecting things from the yaoi tag.
I’m sorry guys, I was a believer like you. There’s nothing platonic about how they act together, it wouldn’t surprise me if the author ships them, but there won’t be anything too explicit. This author has written original bl works but they have never labeled this story as bl, it runs in a general audiences seinen magazine (that doesn’t mean it can’t be gay or have themes but there’s basically zero chance of explicit intimacy). The authors always replies to people on their twitter who ask if it’s BL or has BL elements by saying that it’s not in the BL genre.
