We’re so used to shitty "tops"—guys with terrible personalities who are selfish, narcissistic, arrogant, and abusive toward "bottoms"—that I can’t help but get emotional over the truly humane way Jaeyi treats Ideum. They’re supposed to be just bed partners bound only by sex, yet they act like friends and a couple at the same time.

I suppose Jaeyi is comfortable with this dynamic because he hates labels, and with Ideum, he doesn't have to conform to any. He claims he only feels pity, but a person doesn't act the way he does out of mere sympathy—especially since such feelings rarely come with genuine actions. Ideum doesn't ask anything of him, yet Jaeyi acts of his own volition without expecting anything in return.

I mean, obviously sex is a driving factor, but their relationship isn't limited to just that. Jaeyi wants to be with Ideum; he seeks him out, messages him, and genuinely wants to know how he’s doing. If Ideum doesn't reply, Jaeyi goes looking for him; he comforts Ideum, listens without interrupting, and encourages him to overcome his insecurities. Even during sex, he doesn't just seek his own pleasure, but a mutual experience filled with intimate affection.
