This is my guess but, it seems like MC is the type that love the chase. Gets joy at seeing seeing someone they find attractive who isn't necessarily gay, fall for them eventually. But also like being rejected. They then lose interest once the other person is head over heels for them and gets attached. His ex became too loving and not rejecting them as usuals and the new kid in school vowing to treat him right. Seems like ML is the only they actually left not because they have completely fallen out of love but, bc the guy was just being oppressive, jealous, making a scene in front of his friends and his rejecting and anger was too much. They are people like that. Some even dates only for the honey moon phase of the relationships too. My friend was like she never always have a bf but none lasted more than 2 year or even a year.

I don't understand mc, but you were right on the part where he likes to chase people and to not be reciprocated on the affection he gives. I'm sure that at some point he liked his ex, which was why he chased him in the first place. what I didn't understand was his sudden attitude change around him? I'd understand it more if the author was saying something icked or something bad that the ex did made the MC back off but showing sudden disgust on affection? Moreover the way the author made it look like the mc genuinely HATED it made me mad like why did he chase him in the first place if what he wanted wasn't affection and love? Like what was the end goal for him?
