I dont get it, by thernd of the novel why would they still be living together like? is it because of their fucked up lifestyle that they cant see themselves living a normal life without it? What are ya’ll thoughts, are they staying for co dependency with little no love in it?

I honestly think the author of this novel has some serious issues and idealizes this kind of relationship

Authors aren't what they write. Just because they write problematic fiction, doesn't mean they endorse what they publish. If that were true, literally every creator of gore or murder of every media would be in jail. Learn to separate fiction and reality.

I’m not saying that every author who writes problematic content necessarily endorses those things in real life. But when, for 47 chapters, the protagonist is repeatedly raped, beaten, humiliated, and subjected to increasingly extreme forms of sexual violence, while the story continues to frame the relationship with his abuser romantically, with no real redemption, accountability, or condemnation, and they ultimately end up together, I find it very difficult to see it as anything other than a fantasy built around that kind of relationship.

At that point, it’s not simply about “writing problematic fiction.” It’s about how the violence is consistently sexualized and incorporated into a romantic narrative. And when this is done repeatedly throughout the story, I think it’s completely fair to criticize the work for fetishizing and idealizing that kind of dynamic.

That doesn’t mean I can definitively claim to know what the author believes in real life. I’m talking about what the work itself chooses to portray and how it chooses to portray it.

As I mentioned earlier, Killing Stalking is a good example. The author depicts abuse and violence without romanticizing the relationship itself.

Not seeing what’s wrong here is honestly pretty concerning...
