It definitely has to do with family issues, you can kinda come to a conclusion that he's just basically traumatised and afraid. Ml liking mc seems like there's more to it but MC can't remember them, I do agree that the story lacks depth because of how short it is, it's all been squished to fit. MC low-key redeems himself at the end so I guess it's kind of worth it, even I'm surprised by how much he changed in the short span of chapters, though ig he doesn't have a choice because of how short the story is, in other stories it would be take like 50 chapters for a character to even develop something lol. I do recommend you finish it though just to see how it ends.
i read some comments here and usually i am very patient about mcs and relationships so i decided to give this a shot, especially because people were saying the ml is good. but honestly this is just ragebait. not only does mc not stand for himself despite being used over and over again and taken advantage of by his crush, he doesnt even seem to have much substance as a character if im being honest. ml and mc’s relationship feels forced and one-sided by ml. i cant even find a reason for ml to like the mc if im being honest because he just has zero substance, and ml only ever looked at him from afar to gain feelings.
i kinda get that he has been isolated due to manipulation? but does that have to effect his lack of personality as well? he just feels like an empty shell. i don’t get it.
if you like characters that dont require much thinking about and a bland plot with smut then maybe this is for you. but this is definitely not for me.
