i think it was only shared that the first instance of sexual assault was a maid when he was young(and it was thwarted fortunately) but even then there were countless other women that did so time and time again.
the first wife was a noble that was chosen by the emperor from what i can remember. and he was raped (from what we can assume since he cant bear to look at his child who looks similar to the first wife)
i think the empress clear that up somewhere in the chapters basically the maid baby trapped him which made him have no choice but to marry her which the emperor took advantage of because he’s marrying below his means.
thats how i understand the whole situation when i was reading this. Women also flocked into him pushing themselves towards him because he was a duke but none of them really succeeded except for the the 1st wife.

Negligence of the child is indeed abuse but the thing is ML got r*ped by a maid that became his wife then had the child look like that maid. He knows he shouldn’t be distant he knows he should be a good parent he knows full well that the child need a parent. But the thing is whenever he sees the child he felt nauseous he cant digest the fact that a child came from . He was his own child but at the same time his mind associate Noah with his r*pist please find yourself to understand that. As a parent his enemy was his own mind. I’d rather have him neglect the child than look at Noah with disgust and disdain at the very least the child doesn’t remember him. All the child knows is that there is a father that is distant and please bear in mind aside from being a father he is also a duke his people depends on him the moment he fell everything will fall so I understand where the MC is coming from when she decides to drink the poison meant for the ML.
As for the age gap the setting was from an era where 12-14 yrs old getting married to older guys is normal. MC wasn’t even a real 17 year old so the age gap doesn’t bother me one bit, My friend’s grandma got married at the age of 13 to a 24 yr old. Thats how it was on the early days.
I would like to point out ML neglect is indeed abuse but find it to yourself to understand where he is coming from. As for his misogynistic views towards female it stems from his experience with women. MC doesn’t have a good reputation int the first place, so you add those two together you have a very bad case of first impression which got resolve early on because the MC proves herself to be a decent human being. ML didn’t even consider her a female when he recognized her, he recognized her as a very intelligent and competent person.
