He has childhood trauma and is messed up. He just wanted to have power in the south and thought about killing Michel at the mansion but 'for some reason couldn't', he's still looking for reasons to kill him though and then blames his green innocent looking eyes for bewitching him.
He sets a lot of 'traps' and is 'testing' the top like in the mansion when he begged 'Ain' to run away together, Ain thinke:"if he had ordered me to run away together, I would have done that. Then we would be eloped and stayed at a hidden little IN and then I would have killed him and returned to the caste alone."
But bc Michel never ordered him to and accepted his fate, Michel 'surprised him'
