i do agree that ian doesnt deserve to he treated like a hookup, and if eunsan were to reject him he should do it lightly and consider ian's feelings. but i dont think this was ever supposed to be a perfect green flag story. around chapter 21/22 he even admits he's only with ian for his own gain, and wouldnt hesitate to ignore ian's feelings if it benefits him.
eunsan grew up with a father obsessed with hockey and the nhl, and as a girl who grew up similarly i can tell you theres a lot of unchecked bigotry in the community. he says around chapter 17/18 "as if a man and woman could ever be friends" implying his jealousy for ian having a girl around, but in my opinion i think he was outing his internalized homophobia without realizing it. i know, i know it seems obvious... but he grew up in korea, where hardly any celebrities, even actors portraying queer characters, are not out publicly. combine little to no real life representation with a crazy hockey dad, along with a recent divorce you cant get over. i'm sure its difficult to suddenly change your psyche like that after 31 years presenting as a straight guy.
even after the kiss at the rink, he says something along the lines of "i'm just an ordinary guy from korea who wants to stay ordinary." compare that to ian, who has lived in canada practically his whole life around people who are most likely a lot more accepting.
since eunsan didnt grow up around an accepting crowd, i think later on in the story he could realize what he'd been taught from childhood is just closed minded and goes against his true feelings. he's not perfect or kind in the slightest, but i assume this is gonna have a happy ending so i'm sure he'll get a redemption arc. contrary to what a lot of people think, i dont think either of them can be considered green flags, but especially eunsan
