I disagree with Oto. Remember that Oto literally ran away from home and made a life for himself and tackled on single fatherhood on top of that. You can’t do that being weak-willed.
His issues with Shuga primarily stems that there is a notable age gap between him and Shuga and doesn’t want to interfere with Shuga’s life than he already did because Shuga is still pretty young. It was already shown that he felt guilty that he dismissed the fact he was messing around with a barely legal teenager because he fell in love with him in a friends with benefits type of relationship and got knocked up. This is also on top of their class differences. Shuga is a heir to a profitable corporation whereas Oto is a runway from a distinguished family who now a concierge at a hotel with a major pheromone defect.
Like omega MCs without a spine exist but that’s not really Oto. His hesitancy with Shuga is not result of being spineless.
Here’s some context:
That’s just the common/standard trope in ABO stories, since the genre itself originated in werewolf/shifter fiction it takes on the Wolf pack hierarchy. Alphas being at the top as confident leaders, and omegas being the lowest (based on the greek alphabet) so they are naturally submissive by nature. This manga has contemporary ABO (exclusion of shifter elements), but the essence of their roles defined by their gender remains. It’s not a requirement to follow the same standards but it is something to expect bc that’s the usual and the norm in ABO that features an Omega MC, the story circles around their suffering and drama.

why do omegas in omegaverse always lacks backbone and self esteem??
like i want a confident omega like jinny from how to snag an alpha or the guy at unromantic
