It makes sense?

For some reason when I'm reading toxic BL, I always have a glimmer of hope—completely unjustified—only to hate it in the end. Because I'm never convinced of the madman's redemption. But the question remains, if unforgivable things happen halfway through the BL, why do I stay until the end for the verdict?
Like, I think I have my expectations of what I think should happen, and I only realize the truth when all the chances are lost. It's like when I watched The Sopranos or Breaking bad.
Any thoughts?
