Review so far up to Chapter 38:

At first the story was frustrating in the beginning, with how the eldest children acted and how the Duke acted. Even the FL annoyed me whenever she chose to stay quiet and not speak up whenever people treated her badly in the household. But luckily that didn’t go on for long and the youngest child was sweet towards the FL.

Speaking of the Duke, her current husband, so far it seems it has been a cordial relationship. Romance hasn’t been the focus. Both the FL and the Duke haven’t had much development and they’ve basically kept a respectful relationship with boundaries. Nothing was said like the typical “contract/arranged” marriages or rules such as “don’t fall in love with me.” They both just have good manners toward each other and give each other the space and treatment needed. The age gap is obviously a concern but SO FAR the story has been focused on the plot and children’s relationship with the FL. So it’s been interesting in that aspect. Honestly it got more interesting and felt nicer as a story, to me, as it went on.

To get into more detail of the Duke and his family:

I thought he would have the typical cold personality, but he really doesn’t. He’s the responsible type, although may not be as affectionate to others, he’s nice. So he initially took the marriage as a request/order from the crown prince. Despite this, he took care of the FL and tried his best to resolve issues. I saw a comment say he’s a bad father cause his kids turned out that way, and I wouldn’t agree. He’s not one of those dads who completely ignore his children or favor one over the others. He’s just a busy guy that had to fight in wars, and handle lots of business as a Duke. He still cares for his family and tries to make time for his kids. The kids behavior was due to the loss of their mom, even when the Duke explained the situation from the start, the eldest kids still couldn’t accept it and had to come to terms with it with time. (Anyways I also didn’t expect that the marriage with his previous wife was just an arranged loveless marriage and his wife actually was previously engaged/loved his brother).
