genuinely one of my fav stories ever, i was so hooked when there were only like 10 chapters out that i binged the novel instead of sleeping for 2 days LMAO. this adaption is actually pretty amazingly faithful so far but the novel gives you so much more insight into the nuances of the choices and emotions of these characters (including the supporting ones) bc of the inner monologues. it manages to have an interesting political plot while still being effectively character-driven, and the author is insanely talented at writing people that feel and act like people, even if they’re bad or evil people overall. there are no one-dimensional villains or saviors in this story. and the tension and suspense between the main couple is just masterful. RAGHHHHH it’s so good
