Exactly! I was so baffled when he said that, acting like it was somehow completely obvious and the MC should’ve just automatically understood his decision.
I wholeheartedly agree with the other comments. I’m so proud of the MC for standing up for his feelings.
The ML was a complete bastard for starting this whole thing with a straight guy who was literally just his neighbor. He was the one who came on strong and pushed everything forward. Now that reality is hitting, he wants to slam the brakes and step back like a coward. If only we could pause life to think things through properly… but he should’ve done that before getting the MC involved. I’m so pissed. And then he has the nerve to say he was “clumsy” with how he handled things. Oh yeah, darling… fucking clumsy.
From the spoilers in another comment, he’s apparently worried about the homophobia they might face. Cool. Why weren’t you worried about that before pulling the MC into your life? And why couldn’t you just sit him down and lay all the cards on the table so you two could decide together?
I know things will eventually get resolved, but man… the ML was straight up irresponsible. He tried to dodge any accountability for the relationship by hurting the MC and claiming he never took it seriously. What a fucking prick.
