Spoilers for those who genuinely want to know why he said that:
ML had seen one of MC's friends use that exact joke before and MC had reacted positively to it, obviously context mattered in that case, but ML lacks a lot of social intelligence and you will eventually see why. So when he was trying to initiate a post-game banter before the window closed, he panicked a bit, remembered that exchange between MC and his friend and quickly typed it out... and immediately regretted it. He is pitiful guys, go easy on him.
