I read it again from chapter 40. They were so sweet, I mean at least it seemed to me back then but is obvious the controlling nature of the ml to everything the mc does like picking him up from school. But he was taking care of our darling. He was so eager to hear him say that he loved him "sober" the same morning of the day all went to hell. It's sad really, because the mc was so happy and loved. Now I can't see the redemption arc make sense.
