I started reading this YEARS ago. I was shocked to find out this series is still ongoing. I’ve reread up to chapter 100, and I decided to check out the most recent chapter out of curiosity as to what could still be unfolding 75 chapters later.
I really enjoyed this series but it’s gotta end at some point. I did know that Taesung’s father and grandfather were gonna become an obstacle at some point, but after checking out just HOW the grandfather became an obstacle is what puts me off.
Let me first say that all of this is just conjecture, based off my knowledge after SKIMMING chapter 170 and 175, this is all just what I perceive to have happened.
The aggressive homophobia to the point of kidnapping Haebom, trapping/punishing his own daughter, and “seemingly” trying to force Taesung into an arranged marriage is just not what I would expect out of this series.
It might’ve been different if I came into this wanting to read that kinda story, but if that was the case I would’ve chosen one of the many other stories that have that EXACT kind of aggressive plot or similar right off the bat.
Not only that, but I swear I scrolled through almost half of chapter 175 without seeing a SINGLE character I recognize from the earlier seasons, including the main characters. I can already tell I will not care at all about any of them. Since I only scanned the content of the later chapters I can not say this for certainty, but it is my pet peeve when authors suddenly throw in a 2nd couple or even a “second story” when the main story of the first couple is not even over. NO. I do not care about these new characters. Create a new series if you want me to care about them.
I personally feel like this author changed the genre of this series at LEAST two times in my opinion. The first wasn’t major, and I could let go because it wasn’t that big of a switch, but it went from Shonen Ai to Yaoi all of the sudden in the earlier seasons. But it looks like it’s changed again, from our nice cute couple just living their lives together and making their way in the world, to some crazy “mafia boss”, violent, action fic. If the author wants to write in that genre, that’s fine, but make a NEW story.
Yes, I am dropping this unfortunately. This just isn’t the kind of plot/storyline I signed up for when I began reading this.
