Y'all.. This tales place in the 90's. The backstory in the 80's. And in South Korea, an already conservative country (and still conservative about this stuff to this day). It makes a lot of sense that an even older adult born between the 30's-50's (I assume) would act like that. My grandmother (born in the 50's) is a loving woman. She accepts people for who they are. However, she's told me that she wasn't always like that. It was still that bad in the 80's and 90's. Yes, the VP could've handled it better, but please don't forget the time frame this is set in and that South Korea is quite conservative.
