Basically, this angel (i think it was on at least) is searching for the reincarnation of his lover that hasn't appeared in 500 years and when he finally meets him again and get together, the lover makes him realize he couldn't find him because he was only searching for human reincarnations, not all the others too.
So in the side story is shown that after the human dies, he finds him in every form, be a plant, a cricket, a cat, or even a fish, and takes care of him in every single form.
