This is why I don't want kids or people whose brains aren't fully developed yet reading these kinds of stories, bec they might end up thinking it's fine for their partner/crush to treat them that way, either bec "they'll change" or bec "they love them."
I know bec I lived through it myself, no thanks to shoujo manga. You know those plots where the ml cheats over some tiny misunderstanding, or gives mc the silent treatment bec she didn't do what he wanted? Or worse, the ones where ml straight up rapes mc, and when mc gets upset, ml goes cold on her, and somehow mc ends up blaming herself? Yeah, like 90% of shoujo manga run on those plots, especially the early 2000s ones. It's so messed up.
Thankfully I had a friend point out how warped my view of relationships was, and I got out of a toxic relationship before things got worse.
Hence why I dont read those toxic plots in shoujo manga - why do I need realistic potrayal when I can listen to irl gossips

This is fantasy - the plot of many BLs. Imagine the top who tortures the bottom - realizes they love the bottom - and soon regret and repent their actions.
Irl, people who torture you couldn’t give a shit about you, and only care about themselves. And they never regret nor ask forgiveness.
That’s why fantasy stories are created - its guilty pleasure for some people yall… if you’re not the target audience - find your fav manga and move on.
