These comments remind me of twitter. I’ve never seen so many people pressed over a story, saying the most out of pocket shit.
My advice for anyone wanting to read the story:
You can approach reading the story in one of two ways.
1. Focus on Navier as the victim of betrayal and read it as a cathartic revenge story. Essentially tune out the implications of the story and enjoy it as a soap opera. 2. Watch how an oppressive, aristocratic system creates a desperate, traumatized villain in Rashta, and notice how even the "good" main characters are deeply complicit in maintaining that system. You can read it as a tragedy.
Pick one approach, and stick with it. Then you can enjoy the story. The bottom line is that reading a fictional story isn't a moral purity test. Liking Navier doesn't make you a bad person, and liking Rashta doesn't make you a better one (and vice versa). Stories are meant to be enjoyed. Choose the approach that sounds fun to you, read it how you want to read it, and don't let people on the internet make you feel guilty for how you choose to enjoy a piece of fiction. Emphasis on fiction.
