I think the translation mistook his thought bubbles for speech bubbles. In his head he was saying that he loved her etc. The only thing he said outloud to her was that he didnt want to find his mate
So in a way this is the basic misunderstanding if he didnt say it.

either that or they just made the MC conveniently super dense for this part and she mistook his "someone he loves" part for "oh it couldn't possibly be me cause 'plot convenience' "

The only reason that could makes sense is that he actually didnt say who was the person he loves (so a mis translation in the chapter?) and so Obviously she would feel terrible bc she things there is no way its her. But here. In the chapter he says its you Tianna the women I love. So girl isnt it convenient? Why crying ? Make it make sense.
