The author really downplayed the good guy just so people will cheer for the disgusting disturbing ml. Like the pei xingxu guy gave him his own medicine without caring for his own life, treated him so well, never touched him without his permission, raised the kid mc brought and then all of a sudden he turned into some sort of devil? That guy even accepted that the mc might not love him ever and still stayed with him. And the mc is also stupid asf. Like how the hell you can pick that abuser over this nice guy. The worst part is author literally ruined the 2nd ml's entire personality just so they can make the mc and ml end up together.
