God will you all shut up?

As someone who's read the novel in full and actually liked it, everyone badgering on and spreading misinformation is getting genuinely annoying.

No Nayoon isn't the fl. She was never going to be and never will be, but that doesn't mean she's going to be discarded. I don't care how much you all hate her, she's here and she's staying. I'm not saying I haven't seen good analysis on her and why people don't enjoy her and I'm not saying I like her that much either, but it's genuinely such a non-issue. This is an incredible story so sue me if I want to read and interact with commenters who actually want to talk about the story and not just complain about Nayoon.

Also guys it's not a harem. Please stop telling people that. Yes a lot of people like Hajin or look up to him but he is NOT reciprocating it. And if he does for a moment and then doesn't go through with it, that does NOT suddenly make it a harem. 

I really want this series to do well and go all the way to the end and hopefully give the author the chance to improve some of the aspects of the second half of the story that I didn't enjoy. Maybe it will happen, maybe it won't, but I'm sticking through it and finding out for myself.

And yes I have complaints too. I haven't been commenting every single one because literally nobody asked nor should anyone care. If you're going to criticize something, at least make sure your criticism comes from a valid, well-placed, and considerate place rather than repeating the same complaint under every chapter.

I do agree with the people saying it sucks that some characters aren't as fleshed out. Let's be realistic though: there is no way we're going to fit every single detail from the novel into an adaptation. Yes it sucks that we don't get to know some characters as well and I'm aware that's a big reason some of them can feel flat. But there isn't going to be a perfect world where every single thing we complain about gets fixed.

There isn't a perfect adaptation where everyone equally loves every character and every change. That's just not how adaptations work.

And before anyone comes to me complaining again: I'm aware that some people have very valid reasons for dropping this story, and you can absolutely do whatever you want. This is directed at the people who are getting ridiculously upset over the same things and then commenting about them on literally every single chapter.

Like I get that you're frustrated. But if you genuinely hate the adaptation that much, maybe it's time to let the rest of us enjoy it.

And honestly it sucks that this comment even needs to be made in the first place?? I know people are going to say "it's not that deep" but it genuinely is??? The complete lack of media literacy I'm seeing from some people here is genuinely concerning. I'm not saying everyone needs to interpret a story the same way, but there is a difference between having a different interpretation or criticism and fundamentally misunderstanding what is being presented while confidently spreading that misunderstanding as fact!!

Being able to engage with a story, recognize nuance, distinguish between your personal dislike of something and an actual flaw in the writing, and understand that a character doing something doesn't automatically mean the narrative endorses it are all basic forms of media literacy. Those are skills that matter outside of reading this one story too. So yes I'm going to call it out bc I don't think "it's just fiction" is a reason to stop caring about how we engage with media. If anything the way people interact with fiction says a lot about how willing they are to actually think about what they're consuming.

And if your response to this is "it's not that deep," then congratulations, ig you're exactly the kind of person I'm talking about.
