To be fair, she’s not officially dating anyone so he’s really just taking his shot because he knows he’s on losing side. I agree though that it’s a little annoying. I also don’t think he really likes her in a romantic way as much as he think he does. I think he’s only into her because the tower master is. Like how he described that the tower master managed to escape depression Because of her, so it’s almost like he’s copying him in order to get over his own depression. I’m guessing this is where he brought the fact that he’s kind of using her. I don’t think it’s due to any bad intentions and it’s probably subconscious, but I prefer more pure love unlike his questionable one.
