I totally understand Yajima, is a relationship even a relationship if ur partner is not opposed to you breaking up with them at anytime. It can make u feel like ur not valuable enough for ur partner to fight for, it can easily be taken as "I don't care that much about what we have going on" or "you are anticipating and waiting for us to break up" creating a sense of anxiety in the relationship.
Yajima was looking for reassurance from Torikai when he made that comment, something along the lines of "We locked in for life, don't sweat the small stuff" some kind of response that confirmed the security of the relationship and Torikai gave the worse response ever
