her childhood friend was her real friend too. just because she stopped being her friend, it doesn't mean the friendship wasn't real. she stood up for mitsuki and even got bullied because she was protecting mitsuki. she had valid reasons to stop being friends with mitsuki, but she was a real one.
Keep in mind this is still mitsuki first ever relationship and like aya is her first ever real friend. They are still young and figuring things out. Their communication isn’t as strong because they’re still figuring out their emotions that they struggled with so much in the past. Mitsuki is slowly over coming her trauma of self doubt and just shutting down when things don’t work out and aya is learning to rely on others more. But they do love each other very much. Even if this was their first ever fight.
