He doesn't figure it out Pete is his son when meeting him. Only really towards the end does Josh tell him and he is very shocked (&relieved).

I’ve read the novel on this (and desire me if you can) + all the side stories. So what happens is….
They go to an amusement park that Chase has rented out (only for them), Chase being cute and dumb only thinks of him as Josh’s son (can’t see any resemblance of himself at all and at this point he’s still forgotton that he slept with Josh and marked him), so Josh wants Pete and Chase to bond so he makes an excuse and goes somewhere leaving those two alone. Pete spots a dog and get’s lost from Chase and Chase goes into a panic and finds Pete behind a fence with the dog (the dog most likely is untrained so it tries to harm Pete which scares him), then he saves Pete from the dog and get’s a few scratches/bruises (I think Josh at this point already know that he lost Pete and is trying to find him with Chase or he doesn’t know and finds out after, either way he finds out Pete went to chase the untrained dog) Then Chase, Pete and Josh get’s reunited and as Josh holds a sleeping Pete he then asks Chase why he saved Pete when he is that afraid of dogs, Chase confesses that it’s because Josh is dear to him and is his son, at that time Josh says “He’s your son too”, Chase get’s confused and asks what he means, Josh then confesses everything that happened at that night that Pete got conceived during Chases rut and getting marked, Chase then looks down at Pete (who is sleeping in Josh’s arms) and in the novel it’s describing his feelings as something raw and happy (like he feels this overwhelming happiness) Josh and Chase then kiss and Josh asks Chase to marry him in which he ofcourse says yes! (That is the end of the main story), in desire me if you can + kiss me, liar, you can see/tell that Chase and Josh are already married and have 3 kids including Pete :) hope this helps! Yeah! We have the epilouge, side stories and cameos in the other manhwas to make up for it, but still sad it’s at the end lol
Ngl I wonder if chase would be able to figure out that pete is his son because he genuinely looks like a mini ver of josh... Like seriously if you didn't know any better you'd think josh performed mitosis to make pete
