At that point, it all comes down to the person themselves. They all got the same education and resources comparably. He even got an additional advantage being the eldest son. Shanat being the eldest child (I think) is cancelled out by her being a woman. But he took it all for granted and didn’t work on improving himself. It’s no wonder he turned out like this. Could it have been corrected? Perhaps, if Rulak had been a more attentive father. At the end of the day, they were all neglected the same and yet Shanat and Gallahan turned out just fine.
Honestly it’s a miracle grandpa Lombardi and his wife produced a useless son as Viese (and Laurels), while also producing charismatic Shananet and humble Gallahan ┑(￣Д ￣)┍ no wonder the family’s reputation went down the drain at the first timeline with Viese ヽ(`Д´)ﾉ
