Sometimes I really wish mangaka were given the same grace manhwa artists are when it comes to serialization lengths. It would have been really nice to see a bit more about Akashi and Roche. And the vampire [heart] plot point is so neat and interesting given most series still go with the stake in the heart or death by UV rays.
It's also very underrated given most people miss that this isn't supposed to be a whirlwind, profess your love from the rooftops romance story. The whole point is that Hisato was deluded into thinking that was what love had to be. This grand fairytale romance where a lonely vampire meets a "princess" to give their [heart] to. It's why the realization that Shuri was special to him all along is so subdued. It's a subtle love that had been nurtured for many years, but true all the same.
Unfortunately, we didn't much time for this reflection period on Hisato's part due to page restrictions... which is also probably why so many people feel like it fell flat.
Also, when did we start moralizing monsterfucking? I mean, vampires are the most safe and vanilla out of the choices ((trust me... you don't wanna know what I'd be willing to toss myself at if they were real lol)) but they are still, by definition, monsters lol "age gaps" don't matter when one of them is literally ageless. It's like people who try to moralize a god falling in love with a human where the god has been alive since the creation of man. Seems kinda goofy to me. Monsters are fictional creatures that exist outside the realm of human morals. They aren't even real lol
