really an interesting way to mirror kyouji and satomi’s relationship. as the protagonist must accept the cat as it is, so does satomi with kyouji….. “have you ever seen a cat with polka dots?”… you don't usually see a cat with polka dots, but if you do cross paths with one, you don't try to rub the spots off. you just accept that it's a very strange, unique cat. satomi eventually realizes he can't wash away kyouji's "spots" to turn him into a plain, normal house cat. he just has to accept his polka-dotted cat exactly as he is.
