I will always feel so sad for Khalid & Estelle, like they stood no chance at a happy ending, they were meant to LOSE no matter what. The goddess took pity with their story & granted Khalid’s wish, not that Estelle owes him anything. But the anguish he felt having nothing, from birth he was oppressed surrounded by death…. No woman owes a man affection just cuz he loves her or sacrifices things for her, I just find it beautiful his warped love/idealism gave her the life she needed…. A king who also wanted to change misogynistic laws, a loving father, a loving powerful lover, a legitimate noble title/body, and a thriving country.(her old country was poor, full of evil nobles, & she was a commoner). The only second lead I genuinely kinda want to see in an alternate life where they end up together, how gentle or healing would their life be ? Would they be simple commoners living in a small cozy village?
