The ending was a bit disappointing. The focus suddenly shifted to the teacher and how to stop him from corrupting his friend. Which... would've been fine if it was executed correctly but it felt cheap and rushed. Idunno, I was expecting more. I also agree with that person's point about the manga being about “suffering doesn't make you a better artist,” but I don't think the story actually develops that idea very well. The teacher specifically sought out students because they were already talented artists, and only afterward became obsessed with their suffering and their relationship with death. So I don't really understand how their suffering is supposed to connect to their talent, or what the story is actually trying to say about that relationship. It feels like an interesting theme that was there, but the actual plot never did enough with it.

It fell flat honestly. I guess when you save everyone, it doesn't feel genuine.
