Don't know why authors write things like they're a zero sum game and only one character can be happy. Both are abused kids. In a childcare setting, there's no reason why only one kid can be happy and the other set up to be antagonist when there's a very obvious shitty villain already (the shit dad).

Dropping. Very disappointing ending. Was hoping both boys with the same neglectful shitty parent would get happy ending, but the novel went down the route of pitting brothers and Edwin getting influenced by awful people and becoming the bad guy. The shit dad doesn't even get any comeuppance.
