- don't expect of romance yet, this is a painstakingly beautiful family story headed by the female mc, shuri - she married young, 14, her husband is old but their marriage is more like a transaction business (14 yo but eventually had to mature fast and learn the ropes) - her eldest stepson is 2 years younger than her but i admire how she was able to be the role expected of her, regardless of the age difference - she had to mature early and set aside her own trauma to fulfill her role (more on that later on) - they have a lovely family, they made it work - personally, i was not bothered with her relationship with jeremy (stepson) and norra (stepson’s friend— i still think they became friends because of shuri). her relationship with them didn’t happen at the same time and didn’t start the same way so i was able to separate the progress of the two relationships (one familial, the other progressing to a more possibility of romance). i also like that the romance part wasn’t forced or rushed. you see the POV of norra and you get it. early on, he admired her esp. as she adjusted to her role as a stepmom, he was able to understand his parents’ perspective and move on from there.
as for Jeremy, it started as jealousy because his father is spending more time with her. (more on that later)
- overall, dont get discouraged to read this because of some comments of “incest” and what not, i believe them to be part of the church who spread false rumors hah!
-i just wished this was finished. i’d have to wait huhu for the next season
