i like his parents.
they were absolutely no good people, they weren't good parents either. but they loved him enough to put themselves in jail.
the so called "successor training" thing, i think they were trying to see if their kid is somewhat like them. but as time goes by, they probably saw how he couldn't adapt to it, like he couldn't do the same without feeling guilty.
and out of love, they gave him the choice to tell their deeds to someone who can be trusted. he could've not tell the principal, but he chose to do it.
i think, for a child to have the ability to see and choose what they think is morally right or wrong is by having proper guidance. like his parents could've deadass told him what they're doing is "right" as a child and he'll register it as something good but he didn't, he knew that their thing is bad and for him having to acknowledge it himself meant that his parents taught him that.
