Take this description with a grain of salt bc Its been a while since I’ve read the novel,
Overall from this point on in the manhwa I’m pretty sure their relationship stays intact :) but we, along with the ml, find out mc has been getting abused by his dad after the mc (at least from what I remember) gets sent to a boarding school but then runs away to meet up with the ml, which it has already been implied he has a strict family but it becomes a plot point and they create a plan that stops him from getting hurt in the future by his dad.
