BL story where the MC is a scientist and his lover is a solider. It’s set in a sci-fi type world where they are living underground. Early in the story the lover, who is a solider, dies and the MC is left in deep grief. During that time he absorbs himself into work, where he eventually creates a portal to another dimension. In that dimension there is another version of his lover who is a lot colder and of higher rank (I think(￣∇￣")). MC is trying to come to terms with separating this alternative version of his lover with the one who died. The lover has also lost the MC in his own world. They were both in the army and the MC’s alternate version died in a mission. They both struggle with unresolved feeling for one another.
