Okay, you people are saying MC is a pushover and that he’s extremely infuriating, but you’re being WAY too hard on him. Yes, I know he overthinks, assumes things, and sometimes jumps to conclusions, especially about ML cheating. But the thing is, he literally acknowledges it. He admits in his inner monologues that he assumed something, that he might have misunderstood, or that he was overthinking. And that’s something people conveniently ignore. You people are literally getting access to MC’s entire fucking inner monologue, and most authors don’t even show that much of a character’s thoughts. If you actually paid attention to your own inner monologue, you’d realize how fucking irrational your thoughts can sometimes get. You assume things, imagine worst-case scenarios, question everything, and then never say it out loud because you KNOW it would be embarrassing or sound stupid. Just because MC thinks something in his head doesn’t mean he actually believes it with absolute certainty or would say it directly to ML. The difference is that we’re actually being shown his thoughts. So obviously his insecurities are going to look ten times worse to readers. And almost every time he realizes he was wrong, he’s the one apologizing and trying to fix things.

And people also seem to forget that the entire manhwa is heavily from MC’s point of view. We never really got ML’s perspective when he started falling for MC, what exactly was going through his head, or how his feelings developed. So obviously we understand MC’s confusion much more because we’re literally inside his head. Meanwhile, people keep giving ML the benefit of the doubt because “it’s his first relationship, so how is he supposed to know?” YES, WE KNOW IT’S HIS FIRST RELATIONSHIP. MC knows it too. Nobody expects ML to magically be an expert at relationships, but being inexperienced explains his behavior; it doesn’t automatically excuse everything. ML is extremely cold, gives mixed signals, can be affectionate one moment and distant the next, leaves messages unanswered, and they can literally go three or four days without properly talking. And when MC tries to initiate conversations, ML is often the one who doesn’t communicate. On top of that, ML has lied about things too. He literally admitted that he lied about his parents being dead and being rich, saying he didn’t want to tell MC at the time. And a lot of the things MC finds out about ML come through other people or rumors rather than ML directly explaining them. So why the fuck are people acting like MC is creating every misunderstanding out of thin air?

And yeah, even when ML tells him he isn’t cheating or reassures him about something, people with past relationship trauma can still get insecure. Knowing logically that someone isn’t cheating and emotionally being able to trust them completely are two different things. MC was cheated on in his previous relationship despite putting everything into it and trusting that person, so obviously moving into another relationship and immediately trusting someone 100% isn’t going to happen overnight. If you’ve never experienced that kind of betrayal, good for you, but you can’t act like rebuilding trust is as simple as “ML said he isn’t cheating, so why is MC still insecure?” And considering that ML himself is cold, inconsistent with communication, sometimes affectionate and sometimes distant, I honestly don't think MC’s insecurity is coming completely out of nowhere. Yes, some of his assumptions are absolutely excessive and frustrating, but there is context behind them.

And honestly, MC is sometimes way more understanding of ML than people give him credit for. He thinks about ML’s sacrifices, including the fact that ML had an opportunity to go abroad but rejected it, and he understands that ML is often the one paying for things. MC even wants to become independent partly because he doesn’t want to constantly depend on ML. He isn’t just sitting there expecting ML to provide everything for him. He actually thinks about ML’s position and what ML has done for him. So when people say MC is completely unreasonable while giving ML endless excuses because it’s his first relationship, I’m just like… where is that same grace for MC? He is also learning how to navigate this relationship while carrying baggage from his previous one.

So yeah, MC can absolutely be infuriating sometimes. I’m not denying that. But the amount of shit people give him compared to the endless excuses they make for ML is ridiculous. You’re seeing every insecure, embarrassing, irrational thought MC has because the story literally lets you inside his head, while you don’t get the same access to ML’s thoughts. You can criticize MC for overthinking without pretending ML’s communication is perfect. You can understand that ML is inexperienced without using “first relationship” as a fucking shield against every criticism. And if you genuinely think you would be completely secure, rational, and perfectly trusting after being cheated on and then entering a relationship with someone who constantly gives mixed signals, good for you. But not everyone would be, and MC literally acknowledges his own mistakes instead of pretending he’s always right. That’s why I think you people are just way too fucking hard on him.
