Something like this take time. My friend too lost her dogs, some to old age and some to accidents. She's sad for a while and I could never find the right words to comfort her. I'd say eat and watch some movies with your friend.

not comparable but my friend also lost her dad recently, im also very awkward and don't know what to do in these situations but honestly just be there for her, listen to her, mourning really just takes time
