I appreciate how this story tried something different with the regression trope, but it just wasn't as cleanly handled as it could have been. The developments around the middle chapters were not well set up at all, meaning that they might as well have come out of nowhere, and then things just got more complicated from there. I read up to ch50 where the story is finally trying to portray the emperor to be more sympathetic, but it's too late for me by then. That should have happened way sooner because I ran out of fucks to give at that point.
