Good point. It's true that that does not mean the author use it, probably that everyone around them use it and authors tend to incorporate a little bit of themselves in their stories. I am also probably very biased towards Ai, as I am directly impacted for various reason. The positive/neutral depiction kind of bugs me, but you do have a point.
