I hate the dukes logic honestly, the king I understand he's just a blood hungry dude but by the dukes logic then a new born baby is also deserving of death when they grow up because of their parents bad deeds. Or someone who's like across the country with no relation other than blood with the offenders is also guilty of the crime. She's a child who's lived like literal trash her whole life with probably little to no one treating her kindly yet she's somehow as guilty as her family? I doubt she's even gone outside or seen what's going on outside let alone be able to do anything about it. It's just stupid and honestly to the point where seeing him have little crush moments with his wife feels undeserving. Gives me the eek (or however you spell that). I hope when he finally wants the mc in the future it's not only because he's starting to love her but also because he starts to understand that a innocent child has to bare the consequence of horrible people.
Also yeah I know this is also technically law back then (hell some cases even today) that if one person does wrong then the rest of the family get affected, but he's the one thinking it and acting on it.
